Newport Wedding

We were absolutly thrilled to lock our eyes once again on Kara & Ashish's amazing love story fetaured in the recent pages of Newport Wedding Mag. Check out the lovely details below; we hope you enjoy, xo!

...

Dr. Kara Nugent and Dr. Ashish Shah are at home amidst the hustle and bustle of New York City, where they first locked eyes during residency training and where they currently reside. Ashish popped the question in their tiny apartment in the Big Apple, but Kara’s affinity for her home state led the couple to begin their lives together in scenic Newport.

The bride’s parents, Stephen and Mary Nugent, still live in Barrington and were among 190 guests who shared in the celebration, which included a Catholic ceremony at Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at Salve Regina University followed by a traditional Indian ceremony under an elaborate gold mandap with a rich red backdrop at OceanCliff. “It’s a beautiful location, and was a warm and cozy environment for our December wedding,” Kara shares. The couple exchanged wedding garlands, and elephants were featured on programs and in brilliant statues adorning either side of the red aisle as a symbol of good luck, prosperity and longevity.

The reception color palette was as warm as the venue, blending creams and lattes to complement the bride’s stunning vintage embroidered silk gown from León, Spain. Bridesmaids wore fawn J. Crew dresses of silk taffeta and carried elegant bouquets of cream and blush roses. From the couple’s first dance to Norah Jones’ serene “Come Away With Me,” to the exquisite three-tier almond cake with chocolate ganache layers and rich buttercream frosting, romance was in the air from start to finish.

The happy couple returned to their home in the Empire State after a honeymoon in Bahia, Brazil.

Happy anniversary honey, xoxo!

After a carriage ride in Central Park Manhattan one autumn day, Michael slipped a Tacori solitaire diamond on Kristin’s finger and asked her to be his wife. “I was so excited!, every time at look at the ring it brings me back to that beautiful day in the city and the dreams of marrying my best friend” Love says.

What should have been was and what could have been, well, what else matters when you’re marrying the love of your life…

The couple planned an intimate ceremony at Beavertail light house with a tented reception at Weatherledge estate in Jamestown. The weekend of the wedding, tropical storm Danny arrived uninvited, blowing the outdoor reception into the Bay Room at the Bay Voyage Inn. Where ironically they first met while Hervieux was Executive chef and Love was event manager.

Love, owner and wedding planner at Details with Love, certainly knows a thing or two about adapting to last minute changes. “in my experience, one thing you can’t control in planning a New England destination wedding is the weather” Love says. “My advice to brides: try not to stress…go with it, have fun and enjoy!, some of the best moments are created in the most unexpected circumstances that you will look back fondly on for years to come”.

The bride wore a flowing Gemy design with vintage Swarovski jewelry. A rich palette of chocolate brown and white orchid with urns of sea grass set the stage for a stormy summer wedding. Guests should have expected the food to be extraordinary, and the gourmand chef did not disappoint. Guest were greeted with a St. Germain cocktail and an elaborate display of assorted artisan cheeses and Tuscan style hors d' oeuvres. Grilling stations with attending chefs offered bbq pork tenderloin and striped sea bass along with seasonal accompaniments. To finish off the night, assorted mini desserts with specialty coffee were enjoyed by the guests.

Close friends and family danced the night away to the music of Chelley, Bill & Dyl, with a very special performance of "stand by me" sang by the brides cousin Todd of Bob's Day off. The couple danced to Taj Mahal’s “never let you go” and headed to their honeymoon in St. Lucia in fall.
