Detail of the week - the guest book

There's nothing wrong with setting out a traditional guest book at the
reception for friends and family to sign, but the truth is, you'll
probably slide it onto a bookshelf and never look at it again.

Here are some additional creative ideas for you to think about we hope will inspire.

Place a variety of note cards and paper on a table along side a
keepsake box so guests can write you short letters of congrats, advice
and well wishes. And the two of you can open them on your first
anniversary.

Purchase a bisque platter or vase from a local pottery shop and ask
guests to sign it with a special pencil or marker (ask the pottery
expert for advice), then return it to the shop to have it glazed and
re-fired. Hang it on a wall, or rest it on a key piece of furniture.

Silver trays are a variation on the theme of the ceramic tray as an
heirloom, but with the added bonus that they are harder to break! You
can buy an engraving pen from your local jeweler

Have your favorite photo of the two of you framed with a wide white
mat, and have your guests sign the mat board. You can also
pre-purchase a mat in a standard size, and frame your vows, favorite
wedding reading or piece of artwork, and have guests sign the mat.
