Honeymoon Registry!

The newest trend in registries is the honeymoon. That's right our savvy couples are registering for the actual honeymoon. Well think about it, more and more couples live together before marriage. Do you really need another set of pots?

Couples register for anything from the hotel room, sunset dinner cruise, or even snorkling in the Carribean. So whether you are going to vacation in Belize, Hawaii, or Italy......let your guests treat you! We suggest contacting your local travel agent or local AAA office to register for gift cards towards your all inclusive honeymoon package.

Anthropologie - celebrates something new

An understated word with significant meaning charmed us. And so began, BHLDN. Inspired by the Dutch word for “to keep,” as well as countless tales from family and friends of the extraordinary weddings they’d been part of, so began something new.....

The roots are with Anthropologie, so a passion for experience and creating one-of-a-kind moments runs deep. But their offering speaks more to the not-so-everyday occasions—it  is a voice that celebrates a woman’s most anticipated milestones. And one that gives tradition a twist.

Pure Bliss

It was Pure Bliss.....seeing our recent Newport destination event featured in a Bliss Celebrations! Congrats to Lisa & Matthew for being one of the amazing couples chosen (among hundreds) of  submissions!

It was all things nautical for this fun rehearsal party that started aboard the Schooner Aurora
and ended with a dinner at The Regatta Place on Goat Island. “It was an absolute pleasure working
with Lisa to design and plan her gorgeous Newport destination wedding weekend,” said Kristin
Love, event planner, Details with Love. Guests were welcomed with a custom Newport-themed goodie bag by Details with Love filled with an array of nautical favors. Then everyone enjoyed a traditional New England-style lobster boil complete with Del’s lemonade (a local favorite). A groom’s cake was created with all of Matt’s favorite things: aquatic life, the couple’s dogs, and his alma maters Providence College (where they both are graduates) and Kansas State. The evening concluded with a slideshow of childhood photos of the soon-tobe newlyweds.

Maiden Voyage with their wedding on the horizon. A couple sets sail with family and friends for a weekend of celebration...Newport Style!

Thank you to the wonderful team at Bliss Celebrations!

Let me call you sweetheart

Valentine's day gives us the chance to show our sweetest side to the ones we love. Any heart-shaped candies turn simple, sweets into an expression of love. And we are always swoon over the message of love, especially in chocolate! Here are 2 of our simply sweet favorites:
(I truly believe this is one of the things that won my husband over; and we of course used for our wedding cake topper;)

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Serves: 1 pound chocolate covered strawberries

Ingredients

6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
1 pound strawberries with stems (about 20), washed and dried very well

Directions

Put the semisweet chocolate into heatproof medium bowls. Fill 2 medium saucepans with a couple inches of water and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Turn off the heat; set the bowls of chocolate over the water to melt. Stir until smooth. Once the chocolates are melted and smooth, remove from the heat. Line a sheet pan with parchment or waxed paper. Holding the strawberry by the stem, dip the fruit into the dark chocolate, lift and twist slightly, letting any excess chocolate fall back into the bowl. Set strawberries on the parchment paper. Sprinkle with your favorite confections. Set the strawberries aside until the chocolate sets, about 30 minutes.

(What could be more romantic than sharing hot chocolate by the fire on a chilly NE February evening/morning;)

Hot chocolate with marshmallow hearts

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Serves: 2
Simply make 2 cups of your favorite hot chocolate and top with (strawberry heartmallows) by Kraft.
(our favorite is Jacques Torres wicked hot chocolate, it always reminds us of our NYC engagement;)

Xoxo: these confections of affection may induce blushing!

lovely little details - handle & spout

One of my favorite finds at the recent NYC wedding party: inspired by the glamorous fashions & accessories of the 1930's and 40's, the girls at Handle & Spout, are creating a brand of festive headdresses and trompe-l'oeil leather jewelry with a sense of humor.

Sweet little fabric flowers: you can match with your decor, your bridesmaids dresses, or just use your personal favorite fabrics to make a bouquet that's really unique and actually lasts forever. Or you could just make boutonnieres for all the men in the bridal party to correspond to their aisle partners.

Holiday Party Planner - get inspired!

With an intimate gathering where traditions mingle with unique special touches. As you plan your party, keep in mind that the best way to create a festive atmosphere is to be at ease yourself.

*Chose your favorite seasonal colors and flowers to inspire your event, and then highlight your colors with our own specialty cocktail, serve in carafes, wrapped with handmade labels with simple twine.

*We cherish the potluck tradition as busy professionals. In throwing them, we know we are sharing more than food. Practically speaking, it lets the host out of the kitchen to manage other important aspects of the event, like decorating, making drinks and planning activities.

*The fun part about decorating comes when you add your own twist. Use casual, inexpensive
materials – like recycled brown butcher paper. The paper serves as a menu or place setting, allowing guests to comment and cooks to write dish names or family recipes, serving notes and, of course, the chefs signature. Other simple touches with creative flair are flatware bundles tied with twine and seasonal flowers or berries, vases of almost-bare autumn branches and glass lanterns filled with seasonal fruit or holiday ornaments.

*Plan your celebration over the twelve days before Christmas. Borrow a theme from your favorite Christmas carol. The concept is simple: Decorate traditionally. Have lots of homemade treats on hand for sharing. Then eat, drink and be merry!

*Festive place cards made of seasonal inspired wrap and gift bags are great for informal occasions as a way of making guests feel expected and welcome. Make creative place card holders out of edible confections or treat-filled gift boxes for festive gifts with oversized name tags.

*For a chic twist on the toast, gather a mix of classic toasts, plus some of your own original or ask your guests to contribute a toast when they RSVP. Offer a bubby champagne cocktail and type in a fun font or hand write with a silver and gold pen, all the toasts on paper, cut the paper into long strips, one toast on each, and tie with a festive ribbon around the stems to decorate the champagne flutes. Cheers!

*Lastly, create your own music playlist, light your candles, and pop the champagne, to keep the mood for the evening festive and fun:)
