Romantic + Chic = pure LOVELINESS {as seen on SMP}

As seen on SMP;
From their harbor-side ceremony, to the white bed of petals covering the ground, to exchanging vows underneath a crystal chandelier canopy, every detail of this Belle Mer affair planned in the hands of Details With Love is pure perfection. It’s bursting with Greenlion Floral + Event Design centerpieces and Paper Moss loveliness, and Person + Killian Photography has it waiting for you here!

~

Kristin + Rob chose the stunning Belle Mer for their wedding day, a perfect venue for a modern and chic wedding on the beautiful Newport seashore.
The late afternoon ceremony took place right outside on the pristine manicured grounds, overlooking the harbor. The bride walked down the aisle which was covered in a bed of white rose petals. The couple said their “I do’s” under a crystal chandelier and beautiful sheer white canopy.
As the sun started to set everyone moved inside for the cocktail party and evening reception. Kristin + Rob kept their color scheme neutral and elegant, a perfect compliment to Belle Mer salon’s classic white walls and pillars. Their decor was a mix of blush, champagne, white, and ivory. When we asked the bride to describe her inspiration for the wedding day, she said “modern, romantic, fresh, sophisticated, and chic”! The reception was glowing with floral hi-low centerpieces and white and gold candles, a perfect portrayal of Kristin’s vision.
There was a special after party in the Belle Mer island house with a taco truck waiting as guests entered. The lighting shifted to bright purple and blue highlights that provided a beautiful contrast to the dark night sky with delicate lanterns and uplighting.

Bar cart 101

"time to drink champagne and dance on the table"

Bar carts are making their way into many a fashionable home. From simple trays to full on cabinets, these babies are stocked and ready for entertaining. Here’s a little round-up of cart essentials…via our friends at stylemepretty

1. One look at Pinterest and you’ll get all the bar cart inspiration you need. Another go to for FAB-ULOUS bar carts? Society Social
2. A fun print that reminds us all there is always a time for letting loose
3. This Libations Bar Cart from Crate & Barrel could work in everything from a modern to a more classically styled home. Not ready to spend as much on cocktail making? We also adore this cute number
4. This tray had us at Gold + chevron
5. Mix and match different tumblers for an eclectic look that doubles as pretty eye candy. We adore these pieces from Anthropologie (here and here) and Crate & Barrel
6. More gold and this time it’s an almost too snazzy to use cocktail shaker; emphasis on the almost
7. There isn’t a cocktail napkin we’ve met that we haven’t wanted to monogram. These Wisteria napkins are also a great way to add a punch of color to your cart
8. Wine bottle stoppers are not all created equal. These gems get our SMP stamp of holy gorgeous approval
9. A few decanters placed atop a bar cart are a must. We love the mix of masculine and feminine lines with these West Elm and Crate & Barrel beauts

Thankful for...

Handmade LOVE via Oh My Deer

Place a white colored pencil at each table setting or fill a jar with them and incorporate it into the tablescape.  Ask your guests to fill in their placemat with what they're thankful for and then, if everyone is feeling brave and sentimental, take turns reading what you're grateful for!

I am thankful for...Each and every one of you! XO

The Mark of a Gentleman: How To

The bow tie is a tour de force in its own right. More of a style icon than accent, it has graced the likes of everyone from Winston Churchill to James Bond. It is a statement that shows you’re debonair, self-aware and not too timid to shy away from the crowd of Four-in-Hands and Half-Windsor tie knots. (Not that there’s anything wrong with them.)
However, as they say with great sartorial power comes great responsibility, and correctly tying and wearing a bow tie is no exception. A pre-tied or clip-on option is out of the question, and a loosely tied, too large or haphazardly askew look will destroy the whole effect.
Which is why learning how to properly tie a bow tie is not only an important life skill, but a rite of passage.

HOW TO TIE A BOW TIE

STEP 1
Step 1

Hang the bow tie flat around your neck, pulling side A longer than side B by approximately 1.5 inches.

STEP 2
Step 2

Bring A across B close to your neck to prevent the tie from becoming too loose.

STEP 3
Step 3

Continue to bring A up behind B, forming a simple and loose knot.

STEP 4
Step 4

Fold B to make a bow tie shape by pulling it to the left and then folding it back over itself to the right. The fold should be directly between the collar points.

STEP 5
Step 5

Drape A over the front of B.

STEP 6
Step 6

Fold A and pass it through the loop behind B.

STEP 7
Step 7

Continue pulling A through the loop, without pulling it completely through. This will form the back half of the bow.

STEP 8
Step 8

Tighten the knot and adjust until even by pulling on opposite sides simultaneously. Pull the front left and back right section to tighten, and the front right and back left end apart to loosen. @http://magazine.brooksbrothers.com/
